Shopping In Birmingham

The Mailbox

Shopping in Birmingham has recently exploded. There was once a time when Birmingham's purse was filled with money from the thousands of manufacturing firms that ruled the region. Those grey, dirty days are now fading away. Birmingham can now boast one of the biggest shopping areas in Europe. Whether that's true or not we're not sure. However, it cannot be denied that there are shops a plenty in Birmingham's city centre.

Shopping in Birmingham

City Centre

Not just confined to shopping malls, Birmingham has a fantastic shopping experience throughout the City Centre. You will find many of the well known shops present on the streets as well as some independant shops that make shopping in Birmingham a unique experience.

The Bullring [map]

Knocked down and built up from the ashes. The Bullring is a massive visual reflection of the renaissance that the city is enjoying. This massive complex is home to the iconic Selfridges store with its very distinctive building dominating the West Side of the site. The location is also home to an Apple Store, Debenhams, Mango, H&M, Cult Clothing and more in between, so we're sure you can find somewhere to spend your hard earned cash.

The Mailbox [map]

The Mailbox is more than just shopping, it's a lifestyle statement. The Mailbox is a great shopping location for those with a more upmarket taste. The shops include Harvey Nichols, Crew and Pink, there's even hairdressing from Nicky Clarke. Feeling a bit peckish and you can find exclusive restaurants such as Patrick McDonald's Michelin graded Paris restaurant and the fantastic Fino. Need a new HiFi? The insanely desirable Bang & Olufsen store will happily ship you off with a Stack System and Plasma TV. All in all you could spend some time in The Mailbox, although we wouldn't advise it unless you have a wallet the size of Ron Atkinson's.

The Jewellery Quarter

Believe it or not, Birmingham is the largest producer of jewellery in Europe. The Jewellery Quarter is an area of Birmingham that is packed full of independent jewellers. There are literally hundreds of shops where you can find that perfect gift, however, be warned that a trip down here with the girlfriend will have her think you're about to propose marriage.
