Symphony Hall

Symphony Hall

Birmingham has one of the best acoustic concert venues in the world. Symphony Hall opened in Birmingham in 1991 and has gained world wide acclaim as probably being the best concert hall in the UK if not the world. This fantastic sound stage is home to the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra who regularly perform in this amazing auditorium. Just like all major concert halls, Symphony Hall houses a 6000 pipe symphony organ, which was fitted ten years later in 2001, after some significant fundraising.

Rush Hour Blues - Free Commuter Jazz

Every Friday evening you can find a jazz band nestled into Symphony Hall treating those walking past, prehaps walking back home from work through the ICC, to some soothing sounds. Now into its second year, this free performance is a perfect way to forget about work and to start the weekend. Every Friday 5:30 pm, Symphony Hall, Level 3 Bar.

Carling Academy Birmingham

For something a little more 'raw' than Symphony Hall, a visit to the Carling Academy should do. Carling Academy Birmingham is in fact made up of three venues. There is the main Carling Academy holding around 2,500 people, the Carling Academy 2 which holds 400/600 and the smaller and more initmate Bar Academy which holds 290 people. The Carling Academy Birmingham prides it self on not only hosting some of the best established bands but also local and unsigned groups just starting out on their promising careers.
